Oscar Moralez Founder + Managing Director

Oscar Moralez is a serial entrepreneur, mentor and venture capital investor. He is also the founder and managing director of VisionTech, launching the Indianapolis-based private investing group in 2009. Today, VisionTech Angels is among the Midwest’s most active angel investing networks with an investment portfolio of companies based across the United States and a separate VisionTech Angels Fund. In 2019, Oscar co-founded Boomerang Ventures, a growth-stage venture capital firm based in Indianapolis and focused on technology companies in health care and the life sciences. 

Prior to VisionTech, Oscar founded BioStorage Technologies in Indianapolis in 2002 and served as chief operating officer. Biostorage was acquired in December 2015 by Brooks Automation (NASDAQ: BRKS) and is now part of the Brooks Life Sciences division. Oscar has also worked in various executive management roles in health care with Covance Clinical Laboratories, Mayo Medical Laboratories and Boulder Community Hospital. In addition to his experience with startups, investing and capital formation has more than 20 years of technical, operations, and management experience in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. He currently serves, or has served in the past, as a director on for-profit and not-for-profit boards in Indiana, including OrthoPediatrics, SonarMed, Apricity, BoxFox, The Venture Club of Indiana, The Speak Easy, Leaf Software Solutions, and the Indiana Center for Biomedical Innovation. 

Oscar is a regular speaker and presenter at universities across Indiana and serves as a mentor, coach, and judge for regional accelerators in the Midwest. He earned a B.S. in medical technology from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and an MBA from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business.
